Hi,

I’m Caitlin, founder of Ulaini Kenya. Originally from Liverpool in the UK, I’ve spent much of the past decade living in Kenya. Ulaini began as what we call a “side hustle” here, just me with a 1980s sewing machine kindly gifted to me, making baby quilts for friends.

It didn’t take long to realise I couldn’t sew fast enough to keep up with demand. Today, many of our quilts are proudly produced by skilled local tailors in Nairobi. Their expertise and speed have allowed us to expand into a range of quilt sizes and accessories, though baby quilts remain our best-loved and most popular product (and I hope it stays that way!).

Personally, I find sewing with bright, playful children’s prints far more joyful than anything else and that is reflected in the products we offer.
